Anime music concerts become popular trend among the young

(VOVWORLD) - The music collective “8 the Theatre” has deployed the Ukiyo music project to bring "wibu culture", which is a trend among Japanese anime fans, to a Vietnamese audience. After the success in April of Chapter 1 "Your lie in April ", Chapter 2 "On the perimeter of dream" continued to impress the public last weekend with performances of Japanese contemporary music.

“It's been a long time since I last had a feeling of going to an anime show in Vietnam. I've been interested in anime for many years, since I was in middle school. The show reminds me a lot of my youth," said an audience member.

“This series evokes a lot of memories. The chapter “Your lie in April” aroused a lot of emotions. The songs leave a deep impression on the audience after the show," another wibu fan shared.

The Ukiyo music project returns with Chapter 2 "On the perimeter of dream", introducing 27 mixes of tracks of the anime trilogy "Your name", "Suzume no tojimari" and "Weathering with you". Chapter 2 is performed by 16 artists from Vietnam, Japan, and Belarus on 8 different musical instruments.

The show features a variety of music genres. It’s not an easy task to attract the audience with new mixes of songs that have already impressed them deeply.

Music Director Nguyen Hai Phong said: "In addition to recording the main parts such as the harmony part and forms of the songs in this show, I also wrote more for the strings. Hopefully, through this concert, young people will learn about methods of performance and types of performances, such as combining electronic music and chamber music. The music is not encapsulated in one genre like rock or jazz but is something new."

Singer Thai Trinh said: " In Ukiyo’s Chapter 2, I sing 8 songs. The band now is much bigger than the last time. It might be doubled. I was quite stressed because I had to sing more songs and coordinate with a large orchestra. This was a rare opportunity for me to sing with a large orchestra.”

After performances on Au Co Theater (Hanoi) last week, the anime music concert Chapter 2 "On the perimeter of dream" will heat up the Ben Thanh theater in Ho Chi Minh City next Friday.
