Phu Quoc eyes resuming direct flights with India
(VOVWORLD) - Phu Quoc island hopes to relaunch the direct air route to India to foster tourism growth between the two locations, Huynh Quang Hung, Chairman of the Phu Quoc City People’s Committee, told Madan Mohan Sethi, Indian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City at a meeting on Wednesday.

Phu Quoc Island, apart from being a popular wedding venue for Indian billionaires, has also become an increasingly popular playground among Indian holidaymakers, said Hung. There used to be a nonstop air service between India and Phu Quoc, but operations were suspended due to low demand, according to Hung.
He said Phu Quoc will create favorable conditions for Indian citizens to both take vacations, and live and work on the island.
Phu Quoc welcomed an estimated 32,800 tourists from India last year and 12,000 since the start of 2024.
Consul General Sethi said he hopes that the meeting will bolster cooperation in tourism between Phu Quoc and India.
