(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his entourage left Monday for the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Dalian city and a working visit to China until Thursday. This is the second time in two years that Prime Minister Chinh has attended the WEF meeting in China, which demonstrates Vietnam’s high respect for the its Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership with China. Mr. Chinh’s trip is an opportunity to promote Vietnam’s image, socio-economic development, and stability as well as its priorities and development directions to international partners.

Prime Minister Chinh’s trip is made at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF Founder and Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab.
A new message about dynamic, innovative Vietnam
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Thanh Binh said the Prime Minister's trip is of great importance. WEF Dalian 2024 will be a platform for Vietnam to engage with emerging global issues, trends, and new drivers of economic growth; exchange ideas on development and governance; showcase Vietnam's socio-economic achievements; and promote Vietnam as a dynamic, innovative, and attractive investment destination for global corporations.
This event will help Vietnam strengthen exchanges and foster relationships with other countries, partners, and international organizations, thereby supporting implementation of the foreign policy set by the 13th National Party Congress.
Deputy Minister Binh said: "The Prime Minister's agenda will be packed with bilateral and multilateral activities. For the first time, he will deliver remarks at the opening of the plenary session alongside Chinese Premier Li Qiang and other leaders. The Prime Minister will also speak at various sessions and chair discussions with the business community which specifically focus on Vietnam."
Given Vietnam's notable growth and development achievements, Deputy Minister Binh believes the participation of the Vietnamese delegation will contribute significantly to the overall success of WEF Dalian 2024.
Binh said: First, the Prime Minister will share Vietnam's insights and perspectives on the world economy, including prospects, opportunities, challenges, and significant global transitions that impact economic development both in the short and long term. Second, he will propose solutions to harness the potential and strengths of the Asia-Pacific region, highlighting the role of major regional economies like China. PM Chinh will particularly emphasize Vietnam's contributions and the importance of the private sector and public-private partnerships in driving growth, especially through new growth drivers."
"Third, the Prime Minister will tout Vietnam's socio-economic achievements, and share the vision, policies, development strategies, and macroeconomic management experiences of the Vietnamese government. He will also call for cooperation between the WEF and partners, focusing on high-priority, emerging industries such as artificial intelligence and technological innovation," said Binh.
Maintaining high-level strategic exchanges, enhancing political trust between Vietnam and China
In addition to attending the Forum, Prime Minister Chinh will hold bilateral talks and meetings with senior Chinese leaders.
Deputy Minister Pham Thanh Binh said: "In light of the recent agreement to deepen and elevate the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China and build a Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance, maintaining high-level contact is crucial for enhancing political trust and implementing the common understandings and high-level agreements between the two countries. This will contribute to the ongoing good relations between Vietnam and China."
These bilateral talks and meetings occur as Vietnam-China relations continue to develop stably and achieve positive results. Following historic visits by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong in October, 2022, and Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping in December, 2023, both parties and both countries have repositioned bilateral relations, aiming to build a Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
This has created strong spillover effects across multiple sectors. In the first four months of this year, bilateral trade turnover surged nearly 25% to 59 billion USD. Chinese investment projects in Vietnam in 2023 saw a 77% increase, with more large-scale projects emerging.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's attendance at WEF Dalian 2024 will further promote cooperation and partnership with the WEF and contribute to the robust development of the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
